Whitwick dentists sink teeth into challenge for Rainbows
A team of Whitwick dentists are sinking their teeth into a wheelie good challenge to raise money for Rainbows.
Setting off on May 12, Dumitru Aunianu (45), Mel Ghaly (29) and Ian Clift (62) will swap drills for pedals as they cycle from London to Paris over four days.
Riding for around eight hours a day, the team will take on 289 miles to complete the trip to France. The dentists – of Hermitage Dental Practice – have never attempted a challenge like this before so are brushing up on their fitness levels and training as much as they can.
Practice owner Dumitru Aunianu said: “Rainbows is an amazing charity, close to our hearts, that cares for hundreds of families going through some really difficult times. We wanted to challenge ourselves as well and keep fit, which is why we chose to take part in a bike ride and show our dedication to such a wonderful charity.
“Although we aren’t looking forward to the burn in our legs we know it will all be worth it to raise both awareness and money to help those in need. We would like to thank everybody who has spared the time to read up on what we are doing and especially to say thank you to those who have donated and shown support to us when they come to visit us in the practice.”
Gary Farnfield, Rainbows Community Fundraiser added: “We would like to thank the team for trading their dentist’s chairs for saddles to take on this incredible challenge for us. What they are doing is fantastic, and by raising sponsorship, they are helping to provide vital care for the hundreds of life-limited children, and their families, who use our hospice and our services.”
