Rainbows volunteer is calling on all Santas
A Rainbows volunter is encouraging people to put on their white beard and red hat and join in the Loughborough Santa Run on Sunday (7th).
Rob Haylock (60) of Newton Linford, is taking part in the 5km Loughborough Santa Run – which is organised by the Rotary Club of Loughborough – at 11am in Loughborough Market Place.
Rob has been volunteering with us for three years along with his wife,Val. Rob spends his time as a School’s Ambassador visiting schools across the region to talk about the work of Rainbows. This is the first time he has taken part in the run and is hoping to raise around £500 for the charity.
Retired head teacher Rob said: “Rainbows is a fantastic place that provides unique care for children and young people. I run anyway and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do something additional for Rainbows.
“I would encourage other people to sign up and take part in the event for Rainbows. You don’t even need to run, you can walk if you want and it is all about getting Christmassy and drawing attention to, and raising money for Rainbows.”
Entry starts at £6.50 for children and £13 for adults and includes a Santa suit. To register go to www.rainbows.co.uk/Christmas2014contact 0800 952 1133 or email [email protected]
