Rainbows has launched a brand new initiative to encourage businesses and employees from across the East Midlands to donate their unwanted clothes and household items to Rainbows charity shops.
The ‘Where’s It Bin?’ campaign will see Rainbows drop three branded wheelie bins to businesses across region for the duration of one week. Employees can fill them with everything from their unwanted jumpers and jeans, to mobile phones and toys.
An online leader board will challenge companies to collect more than their rivals, with prizes up for grabs for the teams that top the table. Companies can also stick their logo on the bins so everyone can see ‘Where Its Bin’.
The aptly named Rainbow Waste Management, based in Swadlincote, kindly donated three coloured wheelie bins for the campaign and even offered to be the first company to fill them.
Clare Taylor, Office Executive at Rainbow Waste, said, “When we first heard about the idea we thought it was fantastic, so we were delighted to supply the collection bins for Rainbows, which is such a great charity.”
She continued: “We’ve been encouraging all our staff to bring in their unwanted items and I’m thrilled to see the bins are already starting to fill up!”
Corporate Partnerships Manager for Rainbows, Kate Golding, said, “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Rainbow Waste, not only for providing the bins, but for also volunteering to be the first company to keep the bins at their offices.
“The idea of keeping the collection bins at the work place is so employees who want to donate their unwanted items don’t have to go out of their way to do so, they can simply just bring them to work with them.”
She added, “We’re taking the bins across the whole of the East Midlands. Whether you’re a team of three or 300, you could help make a huge difference by filling a bin with your unwanted items. We will also have a dedicated page on our website so everyone can see all of the wonderful companies supporting our scheme.”
All of the money raised from the campaign will support families going through the most difficult of times, both at the hospice and out in the community.
