Our shops need volunteers
Rainbows needs people in the East Midlands to get the feel good factor by volunteering in one of our shops.
We have welcomed research which revealed that 80% of people said volunteering improved their self-esteem and confidence with the same percentage saying they valued learning new skills. The survey, carried out by Demos, also highlights that people say volunteering has a positive impact on their physical and mental health.
Our shops, in Matlock, Melton and Blaby, need volunteers to help with sorting stock, dressing the shop windows and serving on the till.
Karen Bilsby, Rainbows retail manager, said: “We welcome this survey which highlights what a positive experience volunteering is and we know that our existing volunteers really do enjoy it. We’re always looking for new volunteers, so if you have spare time, need a new challenge or simply wish to support Rainbows in a different way, please do get in touch. You can be a real part of something that brings support, love and laughter to children whose lives are sadly too short.
“Becoming a volunteer in our shop is so simple. You can work the hours that suit you; why not come in to our shop and have a chat with us?”
Ann Mills, of Melton, has been volunteer at the Rainbows Melton shop since it opened in 2012. She said: “I enjoy it immensely and find it very rewarding. It is a lovely group of people to work with and I have made some wonderful friends. If anyone was thinking about volunteering, I would tell them to give it a try, they will enjoy it.”
