No Hazzard for The Dukes of Burbage

Three friends from Burbage are taking on an adventure of a lifetime by driving an ‘old banger’ more than 1200 miles to raise money for Rainbows.

On June 16, Martin Green, Shaun Morris and Andy Leck will become The Dukes of Burbage and tackle the Monte Carlo or Bust charity event. Their aim is to drive from Burbage to Monte Carlo, via France, Switzerland and Italy – all in a car that cost no more than £500.

The trio are hoping their trusty Volvo V70, dubbed the Pink Panther, won’t let them down on the three-day crusade, where they are aiming to raise around £2,500 for us, as well as fundraising for Cancer Research UK.

Martin Green, said: “We’re all bracing ourselves for the challenge ahead and raising as much as we can for Rainbows! Hopefully we can all make it there and back again!”

Around 75 vehicles are expected to take part in the rally, which will take drivers and passengers through roads with backdrops of sun, sea, sand and snow.

Helen Lee-Smith, Head of Individual Giving at Rainbows, said: “Martin, Shaun and Andy are embarking on a very exciting adventure and we are delighted they have chosen to support Rainbows with this fabulous challenge. They have raised an incredible amount of money already, which will go towards providing vital care and support to the children, young people and families. Without the backing of people like The Dukes of Burbage, we simply wouldn’t be able to open our doors, so on behalf of the families and young people, thank you. We wish them all the best with the challenge and can’t wait to hear how it all goes.”
