Mansfield Moonlight Walk hailed a success
More than 160 people donned their PJs and Onsies to take to the streets of Mansfield for the town’s first Moonlight and Memories Walk.
After a day of horrendous rain, the skies were clear last Saturday as participants took part in the 3.7 mile moonlit walk to raise funds for us and John Eastwood Hospice
Paula North, Rainbows Fundraising Coordinator, said: “It was wonderful to see so many people coming out at night to support us; walkers and volunteers. Everyone has made such a brilliant effort by dressing in nightwear and really getting in to the spirit of the event. A lot of people also walked in memory of someone and wore special t-shirts. On behalf of our children, young people and families, I would like to say a huge thank you; your support really does make a difference.”
The event, which was sponsored by Eatons, Mansfield Town Fc and Mansfield 103.2,was also supported by Mansfield Town FC and started and finished at the One Call Stadium. It is hoped it will raise £10,000, which will be divided between the two hospices.
Ian Greatorex, employment advisor at Ingeus, an employment and training services company in Commercial Street, took part with his colleagues. He said: “This was a great event. The weather was very kind and we all enjoyed some of the hidden delights of good old Mansfield Town. To date, our online sponsorship is showing £335 against our target of £250 so thank you to all who have supported us by contributing.”
