Lunch with the Law – Leicestershire’s Chief Constable teams up with Rainbows

The Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police will give an insight in to meeting monarchs and catching criminals at our Annual Lunch.

Chief Constable Simon Cole QPM is the guest speaker at our prestigious lunch which takes place on Wednesday 11 March at Welford Road Stadium, home of the Leicester Tigers. 

Simon, whose student application to join Leicestershire Police in 1987 was rejected because he is colour-blind, will share stories about his life in the force, growing up on the terraces at Welford Road and the challenges of day to day policing.

As Chief Constable since 2010 Simon has been responsible for the policing of a variety of incidents and events including the LCFC victory parade, numerous Royal visits and the reinternment of King Richard III.  

Simon said: “I am delighted to be speaking at this fantastic event. Rainbows is such an incredible and worthy charity. I have a lot of stories from over the years and I hope that people will come along to enjoy them.”

Simon will be joined onstage by BBC Radio Leicester’s Dave Andrews. As well as hearing Simon’s stories, guests at the lunch will be able find out more about our charity, which supports more than 450 youngsters.

Nancy Lillington, Rainbows’ Events Manager, said: “It is wonderful to have Simon confirmed as the speaker at this popular event. His career is so vast and varied and we just know he will have lots of interesting stories to share.  

“Guests will also enjoy a three-course meal and a glass of bubbly on arrival. During the lunch, there will also be the chance to enjoy a special selection of independent stalls selling a range of items, from crafts to drinks, cards to chocolates; while we’ll also be holding a raffle – giving you the chance to win some fantastic prizes.”
