Let’s get ready to ramble for Rainbows
We want people in Leicestershire to get ready to ramble for our revamped Walk of Life. For 2016, the location for our popular event has moved to Beacon Hill Country Park. It still features a 10 mile route but for this year, walkers start at Leicestershire’s famous landmark before heading to the hospice and trekking back to Beacon Hill. For those looking for something a little less adventurous, there will be two mile Tiny Trek around Beacon Hill which, although challenging, is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Having worked up an appetite, all finishers will be treated to a free hog roast or spicy bean burger after they cross the line. Last year, more than 300 people took part in the event raising over £15,500. It is hoped the Walk of Life: Ramble to Rainbows will raise over £20,000.
Victoria Brunt, Event Coordinator at Rainbows, said: “The Walk of Life is really popular in Leicestershire and we are very excited to be launching this year’s event with a brand new location. We wanted to make it more challenging and offer our regular supporters something different, as well as hopefully interesting new walkers.
“Participants will experience stunning scenery and great camaraderie and we encourage people to dress in colours of the rainbow. We will even put in a special request for sunshine. “At Rainbows, we currently care for 358 children and young people with life-limiting or terminal illnesses. We also support 334 bereaved families and 665 siblings. All money raised at this event helps us to continue opening our doors to the families who need us the most.”
Early Bird entry for the event, which starts at 10.30am on Sunday 26 June, is £10 for adults and £5 for children 12 years and younger. For further information or to register, visit www.rainbows.co.uk/ramble contact 0800 9521133 or email [email protected]
