Leicester siblings getting into the boxing ring for Rainbows
Four Leicester siblings are taking part in a white collar boxing challenge to raise funds for us.
The Myatt family – Louise (32), Laura (30), Joe (25) and Hannah (22) are stepping into the ring at Leicester Arena on Saturday 30 March for Challenge Charity Boxing, which raises funds for our hospice.
Organised by Nathan Leverton and Faisal Nathani, this is the fourth event in the Challenge Charity Boxing series, which has already raised over £40,000 for us.
Hannah, of Countesthorpe, said: “We chose to take part as our brother, Joe, has already competed in charity boxing matches on four different occasions. He has constantly told us how much he loved the feeling of a challenge while also raising money for charity. Every time he has tried to convince us all to take part we have declined. This time, however, we finally gave in. We decided that it wouldn’t be so bad if all four of us did it together.
“Rainbows is such an amazing charity and the work they do inspires us so much. Louise and Laura both have two children and we couldn’t imagine if they had to go through anything like the children and young people who stay at Rainbows do. We couldn’t think of a charity that is more worthy of our support.”
The sisters say that this event means stepping out of their comfort zone but are confident that supporting each other will get them through the challenge. “I’m nervous for the event especially having to get up in front a crowd,” Laura, of Leicester, added. “Doing it as a family does make it easier though as we all encourage each other.”
Jess Dixon, Community Fundraiser at Rainbows, added: “We’d like to thank the Myatt family, as well as Faisal and Nathan and all the competitors in Challenge Charity Boxing, for choosing to support Rainbows. We rely on the generosity of our donors and this event is a wonderful opportunity for people to get fit and have fun while giving something back.”
