Leicester businesswoman takes on 100 mile challenge for Rainbows
The Past President of the Insurance Institute of Leicester has almost completed a 100 mile walking challenge to raise money for Rainbows.
Sue Hull, of Desford, is now more than halfway through her trek, which she is taking on with her dad, Danny McGrath (76), of Wigston.
The father and daughter team have walked more than 80 miles of the Leicestershire Round, which is the outskirts of the county, and battled various weather elements.
Sue, who is who is operations director at Berkley Insurance Group, said: “As the Past President of the Insurance Institute of Leicester, I chose Rainbows as my charity of the year because the work that the charity does is incredible and I want to do all I can to support Rainbows.
“Depending on time and our energy levels, the walks have been averaging at five to 11 miles each time. It is such a beautiful walk, it is taking us through villages that we haven’t seen before which are lovely, and it is very picturesque.
“Dad loves walking, I have had to keep up with him. Because we are doing it for Rainbows, it all feels very rewarding, even when you have hard times like getting lost or stuck in the mud.”
Kirsty Coxon, Rainbows Corporate Fundraiser, said: “What Sue and Danny have achieved is fantastic. We are so grateful to their fundraising, which helps us to provide care to more than 300 babies, children and young people with terminal and serious illnesses. We look forward to working with Sue over the year.”
