It’s been a fantastic first year in partnership for Leicestershire CCC with Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. The two organisations have worked together closely after Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People was named as the club’s Official Charity Partner for 2016.
Rainbows came to the Fischer County Ground on a number of occasions during the season, including NatWest T20 Blast matchdays. Leicestershire CCC Players, Officials and Staff visited the hospice at Loughborough last week, handing out some Foxes goodies to young people at their Christmas party. The club was also given a guided tour of the facilities and gained an insight into everyday life at the hospice, which was appreciated by everybody. A number of Foxes players visited including Ben Raine, Lewis Hill, Tom Wells, Zak Chappell, Richard Jones, Gavin Griffiths and Will Fazakerley. As part of the afternoon, Leicestershire CCC Catering Manager John Stew presented a cheque for £660 after completing the feat of running three marathons in ten days for Rainbows.
Among the visitors to Rainbows was Leicestershire CCC Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE, who said: “It is an honour to be working alongside Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and we were lucky to see the wonderful work that is done. “To see a lot of young people with smiles on their faces was something that myself, our players and staff will never forget. Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is an inspiring place to visit and we’d like to thank for them for providing the opportunity to visit.”
