Great North Run places available for Rainbows
People disappointed not to secure a place in the Simplyhealth Great North Run have a second chance by snapping up one of our charity places. The ballot for the world’s biggest half marathon closed yesterday (6th) but we have guaranteed places for the event on Sunday 10 September. By signing up to run on behalf of us, your sponsorship will be helping to support children and young people with life-limited illnesses and their families.
Helen Lee-Smith, Head of Individual Giving at Rainbows, said: “While the challenge of 13.1 miles may seem a little daunting, our dedicated events team will support you every step of the way providing help and tips for your training, fundraising and race day support. We can help with advice on accommodation and transportation and as part of Team Rainbows, we will meet you at the finish line with refreshments, a massage and hospitality.”
As well as the Great North Run, we are offering a range of other challenge experiences, including a Great Wall of China Trek, Survival of the Fittest in Nottingham, London to Paris Cycle and Rat Race Dirty Weekend obstacle course in Peterborough. Helen added: “The Great North Run is an iconic event but this year we have challenges for everyone and our events range from across the continent to here in the East Midlands. Some of the events are tougher than others, and people may need time to train, so we would encourage them to sign up as soon as possible.
“All of our events are a fantastic opportunity to take on a challenge, get fit, meet other like-minded people and raise funds for Rainbows, which supports more than 380 children and young people with life-limited and terminal illnesses in the East Midlands.” To find out more, please contact Neil Swift 0800 9521133 or email [email protected]
