Golfers putt over £6,000 in charity funds
Golfers who were more than “fore” feet away from each other during a tournament have raised £6,225 for Rainbows.
Nineteen teams of 76 players had social distancing down to a tee as they took part in the annual Leicestershire Golf Day at Lingdale Golf Club.
Money was raised through entry fees, an online auction, a raffle and donations.
Rainbows Community Fundraiser Gary Farnfield said: “On behalf of everyone at Rainbows, I would like to thank all of the golfers who took part and all those who supported and helped to arrange the event.
“It was a bit different to how we would normally hold an event, as there were strict guidelines, but it was still a fantastic day. The weather held out, everyone enjoyed it and we were just so pleased it could still go ahead.”
In order to comply with social distancing measures, the event followed strict guidelines from the club and England Golf.
All money raised goes to our hospice that cares for over 450 children and young people with life-limiting illnesses. Last month, we launched a fundraising appeal as we face loses of up to £1 million because of the Covid-19 crisis.
