Frozen adventure’ surprise warms Rainbows children
Youngsters with life-limiting conditions at Rainbows hospice had an early seasonal surprise party – thanks to Disney.
The family entertainment giant provided all the trimmings for a party themed on its latest film short ‘Olaf’s Frozen Adventure’, a follow up to its worldwide success with its feature length animation ‘Frozen’.
The initiative marks a new partnership with Together for Short Lives – the UK charity that supports children’s hospices – with Disney providing a magical themed ‘party in a box’ to Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.
The magical gift-wrapped party boxes were packed full of all the special activities, games and decorations needed to create a festive party for children and families.
Creating special moments can make a significant difference to families caring round the clock for their child. That’s why having all these magical ingredients helped create a wonderful day for children and families at Rainbows – to celebrate, come together and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Children and families supported by the Loughborough-based charity were surprised and delighted to open a Disney gift box filled with ‘Olaf’s Frozen Adventure’ goody bags and beautiful bubble balloons.
Sam Herrett, Rainbows Family Support Nurse, said: “It was a fantastic event for our youngsters. Everyone had a great time – and is very excited by Olaf’s latest adventure. We can’t wait to see it.”
The parties took place at children’s hospices across the country over the weekend as part of a new partnership between The Walt Disney Company in the UK and Together for Short Lives, a national charity that supports local children’s hospices like Rainbows. The Partnership celebrates Disney and Together for Short Lives’ shared values and belief in creating precious moments and bringing children and those closest to them together.
Children were treated to a host of goodies, generously provided by Disney Store and Disney licensees – including Parragon, who gave each child a beautiful Olaf book. Bon Bon Buddies Ltd, Soreen and Fiddespayne also donated some themed party snacks to mark the occasion. Spectacular decorations from Balloons and Qualatex also helped bring magic and fun to the occasion.
The weekend celebrations mark the start of a six-week campaign that will include encouraging fans and supporters to ‘Give a precious moment to others, by sharing theirs’ through a social media campaign – Giving Tuesday. Look out for ways you can get involved at www.togetherforshortlives.org.uk
