Everyone has something to give
We’re thrilled to announce that we’re taking part in this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign and we’re encouraging all our supporters to join us, because everyone has something to give.
Giving Tuesday originally began in America back in 2012, as a way to give back following the spending spree of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In 2014, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) brought it to the UK, with the aim of encouraging people to think of others in the run up to Christmas; and for the third consecutive year we’re proud to be supporting the campaign.
At Rainbows, we believe everyone has something to give, both on Giving Tuesday and throughout the year, which is why below we’ve highlighted a couple of ways in which you can support us.
Give the Gift of Time:
The time you set aside to commit to something can never be replaced, which is why we believe giving the gift of time and volunteering for us is one of the most precious gifts you can give. Whether it’s a couple of hours a week / month, or as a one-off at one of our events.
Our volunteers support everything we do and by giving the gift of time, you’ll be bringing more love, smiles and laughter to the children, young people and families we support. Pledge to volunteer for us in 2020 today, by completing our Volunteer Form.
Give the Gift of Joy:
If you’re having a clear out of old clothes, toys, games, books and bric-a-brac, you can give the gift of joy by donating your pre-loved items to one of our shops. We’ll find them a new home and the money raised will help support the work we do. For example, selling clothes worth £25 could help fund the cost of one week’s play materials.
Businesses can also get involved in donating pre-loved items to one of our shops, by having our ‘Where’s it Bin?’ bins on site and encouraging staff to fill these up with their donations. Whether you’re an organisation with three members of staff or 300, you will be helping to make a huge difference.
Give the Gift of Money:
The humble fiver can be incredibly powerful! A one-off £5 donation funds arts and crafts materials, and these are vital as they give our children, young people and siblings the opportunity to express themselves. A regular monthly donation of £5 can be even more powerful, as throughout the year this can help to fund music therapy sessions.
On Giving Tuesday, by making a donation via our Facebook Fundraiser, here, you could see your pound double, as Facebook have once again promised to match donations made on the day… for us, this is the perfect time to make a donation!
Give the Gift of Awareness:
Throughout the year, we’re committed to telling you – our wonderful supporters – about how you are making a difference to local children and young people living with life-limiting conditions. Whether this be through images, video or text across our social media.
Every time you share these messages, you’re giving us the gift of awareness. This is invaluable to us. By helping us spread our message, you’re enable us to reach more people; from supporters who’ll join us in helping to brighten short lives, to families who need our help.
That’s why, we’re asking you, this Giving Tuesday to pledge to share at least one of our messages a week. Encourage your friends and family to share them too, the more people who see them, the more youngsters from across the East Midlands we can help.
How will you be pledging to support Rainbows this Giving Tuesday and beyond?
