Challenges and chasing Rainbows

New Year, new thrill… that’s the invitation from Rainbows Hospice to anyone looking to take on a fresh challenge for a good cause this year.

The charity, which supports youngsters with life-limiting conditions and their families across the East Midlands, has a packed programme of events and activities to offer for the year ahead to help raise funds for the hospice.

That includes anything from skydiving to cycling, mountain climbing to marathon running…
and Rainbows staff are happy to lead by example. Take Community Fundraiser Alison Furlong who faced her life-long fear of heights and took part in a skydive for Rainbows in 2017!

“It was something I felt I had to do,” says the Derbyshire mother of three. “That’s despite finding the idea terrifying – I’m even afraid of going into the loft! But as someone who had a little boy cared for by Rainbows, it is something I felt I wanted to do for the son I still feel is with me in everything I do – and for a cause so very close to my heart.”

And the feeling leaping out of a plane at several thousand feet?
“Amazing! Totally exhilarating,” she says. And she raised a four-figure sum to help support youngsters and their families when they need it most.

An invitation has been issued to join Alison and other inspirational speakers at Rainbows hospice in Loughborough on Tuesday, 6 February (from 6pm) at a special Challenge Event Information Evening and find the perfect challenge for you to help raise money for the charity.

The free, no-obligation evening will provide you with information on a range of challenges – or you might have an idea for your own! On the night you’ll not only get information about the variety of challenges available, but you’ll also hear from our supporters who have completed challenging events themselves.
