Bill Roache heads up Annual Celebrity Lunch
Actor Bill Roache, who has been on our TV screens for almost 50 years, was the star of the show at our special luncheon. Bill, who is listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest serving television actor in a continuous role and a Patron of Rainbows, was the guest speaker at our ‘Rainbows Annual Celebrity Lunch With…’ at the Leicester Tigers Stadium.
Bill talked about life on the street as well as his early days of acting. It is hoped the event will raise around £10,000 for our invaluable work.
Bill said: “It’s a pleasure to be here. I don’t get many days off but I can’t think of a better way to spend it than helping support Rainbows. I’ve visited the hospice and the work they do there for children and young people is fantastic. It’s such a happy place and so important for the families who go there. They really do help these families so much and I’m very proud to be a Patron for the charity.”
Andrew Ball, Director of Income Generation at Rainbows, said: “We were absolutely thrilled that our wonderful Patron Bill took time out of his busy schedule to be at our ‘Rainbows Annual Celebrity Lunch With…’. “On behalf of everyone at Rainbows, we would like to thank him for his continued support. Thank you also to Champions (UK) plc, who arranged for Bill to be at the event, and who have been wonderful supporters of Rainbows for many years.”
