Are you ready for the challenge?

Calling all daredevils and those with a head for heights, come and join us at Derby Cathedral as our charity abseil returns for 2025!

You will climb 189 steps up to the roof of the cathedral’s iconic tower. Once at the top you’ll enjoy expansive views of the city before being harnessed up, and braving the 212ft abseil back down.

Our new two-day extravaganza will also feature live music, food and games, so sign up now to secure your chosen slot!

How to sign up:

With abseiling slots available between 9.30am and 4.30pm over two days, taking part in our Derby Cathedral Abseil couldn’t be easier. Simply hit the “Book Now” button, follow the steps!

  • Registration is £20
  • Minimum fundraising target is £100 (excluding Gift Aid)

This event always proves popular with children and adults alike, so be quick – you won’t want to miss out!

Whats included?

When you take part in the Derby Cathedral Abseil, we’ll be with you every step of the way to help with your fundraising. You will receive:

  • A dedicated member of the fundraising team to support you
  • A fundraising guide, as well as fundraising advice, hints and tips in the build up to the event
  • A branded Rainbows cotton t-shirt for the big day
  • Access to a range of Rainbows fundraising materials (collection boxes, posters, balloons etc.) to make any events you hold look amazing
  • Safety briefing
  • On the day support from the Rainbows team

If you have any questions about the Derby Cathedral Abseil please let us know by calling 01509 638 049 or Email our Events Team.

  • How much does it cost?

There’s a cost of £20 to sign up and all participants are required to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.

By raising the £100 in sponsorship, you could help fund two-hours of Music Therapy here at the hospice. As many of our children don’t have the language skills they need to express their emotions or may not find it easy to talk about their feelings, music therapy provides an ideal space in which to express themselves. If you go that one step further with your fundraising, and raise £260, you could help fund five hours of vital nursing care here at Rainbows, while smashing the sponsorship target and raising £300 could fund a day’s worth of housekeeping costs, helping to keep our children and young people free from infection.

To help with your fundraising ahead of the event, we have a dedicated team of fundraisers who are on hand to offer advice and support, as well as a Fundraising Guide, Fundraising Tips and Social Media Assets for you to use. These can all be found via our Download Resources page.
