Business Club
You mean business, and so do we. Join our Business Club to provide us with sustainable support and show your commitment to Rainbows, whilst getting some great benefits.
Your business can help us brighten short lives, for less than £1 a day
We support hundreds of families across the East Midlands every year. Our hospice offers palliative and end of life care, emergency stays, pain and symptom management, as well as respite and short breaks. Our specialist on-site facilities include sensory, music and play therapy rooms, specially adapted physiotherapy rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms and a hydrotherapy pool.
We’re proud to support the NHS, and have specialist neonatal and palliative care nurses who are available in hospitals across the East Midlands, so they can be there when a devastating diagnosis is given and can provide therapy and end-of-life care in hospital. They provide the best quality care for the babies, children and young people, however short their lives are.
Our Care and Family Support teams visit families at home. We provide care, symptom management and play therapy for children and young people. We also offer comfort and support to parents and siblings, as well as a hospice at home service for end of life care within the family home.
We’ll make your money go a long way by using your donation to pay for Andy, one of our Band 5 Nurses.
For over a decade, the Rainbows Business Club has made such a difference to the work we do. To boost this impact the funds raised through the Business Club are now directly allocated towards funding one of our Nurses working in the Hospice. We are delighted to introduce you to Andy.
Tell us about your role
“Being a Band 5 Nurse gives me the opportunity to provide bespoke, personal family centred care allowing me to offer a holistic approach. No two days are
the same, one day I could be in Young People’s Lounge playing darts, Xbox and cooking. The next providing end of life care to a baby, child or young person
and their family.”
How did you become a nurse at Rainbows?
“In 2014 I started my role as a Hospice Care Assistant, 4 years later I was offered the opportunity to develop and with Rainbows support I commenced my nursing associates training through The University of Derby. I completed this and worked as a nursing associate for a year. In October 2023, I completed the top up and am now a fully qualified nurse. Rainbows has provided a huge amount of support and allowed me to develop and progress in a role I love and enjoy. It has given me the chance to fulfil my potential, which will continue and allow me to progress, grow and allows me a career progression.”
What difference do you hope to make to our families?
“I want to provide the best possible care to our babies, children and young people and their families during their stay at Rainbows. They come to Rainbows because the worst possible outcome is happening to them. If I can provide empathy, compassion and comfort to ease their pain then I have achieved my
job. I see my role as a rock surrounded by a storm in the middle of a hurricane, I am a constant, never wavering.”
Do you have a message for our Business Club supporters?
“Thank you. Rainbows would not be what it is without you. Your contributions mean that we can continue to support the families of babies, children and young people with complex needs to provide them with a place of relaxation, freedom, and laughter.”
